I have installed the latest version of BOINC (5.10.30). Whenever I restart the computer I get a message from Windows that one of the start-up programs has been blocked. Then, I have to start it manually. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?
What version of Windows? Did you recently install Windows Defender?
The problem is only on Vista. On XP it works fine.
Defender has been disabled.
Install as a service and then manually start the manager when you want to look at it. Or disable UAC as well.
As I plan to upgrade (?) to Visa soon I'm wondering about the problems I could encounter. How difficult is it to stop the User Account Control?
If I remember correctly, it's pretty easy to disable UAC. I'm not booted into Windows right now (should do that to install the updates...) but once you do it, it does require a reboot for it to take affect.
Update your computer to the latest BOINC download ( 6.2.19) and it will fix the problem. That worked for me and I have Vista Home Premium
