Hi Y'All,
Background: am a returning user after a couple of years absence - so am new to the current setup, and have lost my former stats, credits etc. as I have lost the details.
Since my latest PC (a new build of a recently retired PC) has joined BOINC, I note it takes quite a lot of retries before work task results are successfully uploaded to the servers
Question: is it normal to take several hours of retries to successfully return work results?Currently this appears true for the
SETI@Home (for nostalgia's sake
) project although I also currently have climateprediction.net (very topical now-a-days) running too, but the jobs are much longer-lived so haven't seen this issue - yet!
The messages usually report "Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down" followed by a failed message. This happens (so far) for each and every work task completed so far.
It just seems an unnecessary and inefficient way of transferring results - probably delaying work - so it's not a big issue, just what appears to be a rather inelegant implementation. (Sorry to moan with my very first post, but that was why I joined, because it irks
)
Maybe I should drop SETI@home and pick a different project? I'll not add the newer Macs to BOINC until this is sorted, anyway, just to save work if something my end needs changing.
